Richard Strong is a fine arts graphic artist trained as a hand press printmaker incorporating both hand drawn and photographic images culminating in his signature style of photo montage on litho plate. He currently is working in graphic computer programs to provide a similar - if not identical - outcome.

Richard Strong was born in 1947 in Lakeland, Florida. He studied graphic arts and photography at the University of South Florida (1971-1975) receiving a scholarship and grant for postgraduate work in conjunction with Graphicstudio. As part of his training he studied under Frank Rampolla, Bruce Marsh, John Catterall, Oscar Bailey, and Theo Wujcik. He also was fortunate enough to work in association with the likes of James Rosenquist, Ed Ruscha and Robert Rauchenberg.

A realist whose work is known for its use of fantastic imagery, Strong’s works are often made up of several unrelated images from diverse sources. In this way he is able to modify or twist the original context into an imaginative new reality to pique the viewer’s interest and make a statement which surpasses the expected and gives the feeling of fantastic possibility often bordering on surrealism.

Richard Strong lives in Sarasota, Florida.
